City Fest

Its been a while since I have posted, I had a hard time posting photos. A few weeks ago Melissa and I took the girls into the city for "City Fest". Its a huge Evangelical celebration. Everything from state-fair like food venues to Christian bands to prayer tents to motivational speakers, to a Christian motorcross team (who knew). We walked around not really knowing where to even start, besides the obvious - the food booths. We found a seat on the side of the only topography in the city and listed to a Latin band. Erin entertained everyone around us by dancing.

I found an interesting take on an old sport. Down here they go sledding on cardboard. In the photos with all the people there were hundreds of kids sledding down turf covered hills on boxes. By the end of the day there was no grass and dust rolled off the side of the hills (bet the people at the parks department cringed).

We started heading back at dusk and the sky was gorgeous. We had a good time, but it still strikes me as a little different attributed to growing up in a more traditional Christian environment. But it was a good look into southern culture.
